The Board of Trustees of the Schenectady County Public Library has unanimously approved updated expansion plans for the Central Library including the design for a contemporary addition. The plan was developed by Re4orm Architecture, and incorporates a 6,700 square foot library expansion to house the new children's area. The pre-cast arched concrete columns serve as a major architectural feature and support the east-side of the addition with energy-efficient glazing in between. This expansion will make additional space available for tutoring rooms, meeting rooms, pre-school room, and technology services including computer terminals. The first floor and lobby areas will undergo renovation including upgrades to the library's restrooms.
