Hadley-Luzerne Central School District wanted to provide state of the art science facilities at the existing high school, which already had site constraints and to develop a long range plan to solve future expansion issues. To create the new science labs at the high school, the second and third grades were moved to the middle school. The new science labs were then constructed in the vacated wing. The middle school already housed the fifth grade, the concept was to create separation between the middle school and what would eventually become the elementary school. To accomplish this new support,   spaces were designed which would segregate the two schools within the same facility. A new entry was created, flanked by a main office and multi-user room. The new design also included music, art, cafeteria, serving kitchen and a new media center. The estimated cost of this project: $13,800,000. Completion date: February 2002
